More babies being born out of wedlock
Good morning! I'm Kerry Harrison at the business desk and today I'd like to focus in on a very interesting trend that is creeping across America these days.
According to recent stats it has been revealed that one in every four babies among Hispanics are born out of wedlock. In addition to this, more and more women in their 20s are having babies out of wedlock. This is a very interesting trend because if these stats are true then it means that marriage is on the decline and that now we would probably see a growth in single parent households. Could this trend mean that more and more women are choosing to raise their kids without a father? Does this mean that more and more men are either not willing or unable to make that big commitment? Does this mean that household needs and demands are going to start changing as instead of catering to families with both parents and kids we are now going to see demand coming from single parent households?
These changes in trends could have an impact on such things as shopping habits, types of entertainment being sort, different needs re vacations and amusements, plus more. Whereas the present norm is for double occupancy would we now start to see a rising demand for a single parent and kids at vacation spots? Would the word family now begin to change to fit the needs of one parent and kids?
On the other hand, things may not change because being born out of wedlock may not necessarily infer or mean that both parents would not continue to form the family unit. Whatever the outcome, it's a trend worth following and it may be something that many businesses may want to keep in mind.
