Good evening!  I'm Kerry J Harrison at the business desk and I'm already in the holiday mood.  So, with this in mind, I'd like to give you some very important tips re extended warrantees.

No doubt this holiday season millions of Americans are going to be purchasing products that are going to be offered along with extended warrantees and you're going to find hundreds of thousands of salesmen who are going to be out there offering you these extended warrantees because their companies will be pressuring them to sell as many as they can.  They are going to try and convince you to buy them and as part of their sales pitch they're going to tell you that extended warrantees will give you that added protection against wear and tear, and unexpected breaks for another few years past the initial warrantee.  This part is true but there are a few things that you need to keep in mind.

First, if a product is to break or fail on you they would normally do so within the first six to nine months after being purchased. 

Second, in a recent survey conducted right here in the United States by a leading consumer magazine, it was revealed that about 95% of extended warrantees are rarely used by the purchaser. 

You may be asking why this is and according to this recent survey it was revealed that so many of our products are so thoroughly tested before they hit the marketplace that indeed almost of the cracks and weaknesses are ironed out before the consumer actually gets to buy it.  So what this means is that when you purchase an extended warrantee for your purchased item you are actually putting your money into the pockets of millions of companies and they know this.

Yes, when companies offer you extended warrantees you can bet your last dollar that 9 out of 10 times that money will remain in their pockets and they will never have to spend any time, money, or put out any parts to fix your product or give you a new product. 

True you say?  Very true and you can definitely do something about it.  When you go to buy your next product play close attention to the type of warrantee that you're being offered.  Take the regular warrantee which will cover you for the first year but stay away from the extended warrantee.  You may think that you're getting a bargain by purchasing an extended warrantee but in actuality all you're doing is putting additional income into the pockets of your seller.
