Best time to travel
Hi everyone! I'm Heather DeMarco at the business desk and I'd like to kick off the week with a few tips for you re your travel plans.
First, let's have a look at your travel plans. Most of us build our travel plans around the schedules of our kids. IE whether or not they're in school and sad to say the travel industry also builds its travel offerings around the schedule of your kids. So that during March breaks and Christmas vacations air fares are the highest. In addition, air fares are also highest during the winter season because it's the time when many of us try to spend as much time as possible in the warmer climates because of the cold weather. Believe it or not, and I'm sure that most of you already know this, the low season starts in early September and ends at the beginning of the second week in December. The high season starts at the beginning of the second week in December and ends sometime towards the end of April. Between then and the end of August we have a mixed bag depending on where you're travelling to.
If you're looking to travel to Europe in the summer then be prepared to pay high fares. If you're looking to travel to anywhere between early September and the beginning of the second week of December then it's probably the best time because fares are lowest and you can choose from literally thousands of holiday packages. At this time the Caribbean can also be a very attractive destination to travel to. If you're looking to go on an economic cruise then September to mid December is your best time. If you take that long saved up for cruise between mid December and early March then be prepared to pay premium price. Best time to visit Disney world is at Easter or Christmas and the worst time to visit is during the summer. Disney builds its rates around the seasons so that during the winter is cheaper and during the summer it's more expensive. Makes sense? Sure! Because summer is the time when the kids are off from school so you see here that Disney builds its schedule around both the seasons and time of year.
Lots for you to think about. The travel industry does not do us any favors when it sets out its rates so we have to be smarter when we choose our time to travel.
Have a great week.
