Life after being fired
Hello there! I'm Matt Chadwick at the business desk and today with the permission of one of our favorite clients, I'm going to tell her story.
Her name is Alexa and about three years ago she was fired because she was unable to continue her job as a website developer. You see, Alexa was losing her sight at that time due to diabetes and her employer chose to get rid of her instead of helping her to find a job that she could do as a blind person. Needless to say, Alexa was devastated and in addition to this she had to deal with a situation of a husband who had left her because of her loss of sight and on top of this she had to fend for both herself and her two young kids Mark and Dana.
Alexa was a fighter and was not going to give up without trying. So, she took the severance package given to her by her company and with the help of her family she set about to carve out a new niche for herself. From here on I'll let Alexa tell you the rest.
"My family scraped together some money to help me and the kids stay afloat till I could get on my feet. My friends were really good to me and they helped me to find the necessary support and training that I could use to help me find a new job as a legally blind person. They contacted Kerry J Harrison and her team of consultants and hooked me up with them. Kerry was awfully nice to me and took a personal interest in helping me to find gainful employment. I also met her partner Jeff Marquis and some other consultants and they all pitched in to help me out. They worked with me to develop an action plan and they forced me to stay motivated and positive all the way. They never let me give up on myself and Kerry stayed with me all the way. The team helped me to identify my strengths, interests, and they really motivated me to work hard to develop a plan that would allow me to become my own business person.
After six months of working with Kerry and her team we or should I say I, decided to take the step to become a researcher whereby I would work to do research on the Internet for lawyers, authors, investigators, and anyone else who wanted to hire my services as an online researcher. Kerry and her staff showed me how to put the necessary building blocks in place. Such blocks as an advertising plan, a business budget, a cost analysis, a marketing plan, and business forecasting and marketing forecasting.
At the end of the first year I broke even, but things began to get better for me after about 18 months and today I am doing reasonably well for myself. I make enough to pay my bills, I've paid off my loans to the bank, and I put food on the table, have some left over for some nice stuff for the kids, and I am feeling very hopeful about my future. I've learned lots from Kerry. I've learned that if you really put your mind to it you can succeed. All it takes is hard work, imagination, motivation, and support from the right person. I've read Kerry's book that she has co-authored with Jeff. It's called Untapped WEalth Discovered and it is a book that gives hope to people like me. It shows you how to use your natural abilities to help you find those hidden opportunities. Before I met Kerry I probably would never have thought of becoming an Internet researcher but here I am today to tell my story. I'll also tell you that with a bit of luck and hard work I hope to make about $70,000 this year. Not bad for a blind person who was fired a little over three years ago."
